Picking the perfect Valentine’s Day gift can be a big pain – on your state of mind as well as your wallet.

These three presents are sure to please the pickiest of sweethearts.

Love letters:

Probably the cheapest present on you can come up with this year is a love letter. I don’t mean scratching out a few “I love yous” on a Post-it note, either.

Although it seems like an antiquated idea in our electronic age, taking time to think out and hand-write a real honest-to-goodness love letter can really be something your special someone can treasure forever.

Love mementos:

Another old-school gift idea, pair of silver ID bracelets is perfect for those Valentine’s Days with a new love, and can bring a spark of rejuvenation to a longtime relationship.

It oozes sentiment as well as playfulness, and with the option to engrave whatever you want, it can be a fun idea. Pet names or memorable dates – like when you first met – are good ways to make this gift extra-special.

Love songs:

A surprise trip to an actual record store can be the perfect side trip on your Valentine’s night out.  Give your true love a gift certificate and let them pick out something they love, or pick out music together.

Flip through records and CDs or skip the trip and opt instead for a gift card to download their favorite MP3s from the Internet.

If you are really adventurous, spend an afternoon making your very own mixtape for them, and place your gift inside.
